Rose City Ramble - purchase new CD here
“Your CD is excellent — it accompanied me (over and over) on my swing up from Seattle to Anacortes when I was very tired and had done too much driving. It's a keeper.”
—Peggy Seeger
It's been great fun to watch the new CD get airplay all over the country and world and to get personal feedback telling me how much listeners and DJs are enjoying the music. I especially like that most of the songs are getting attention and play, and several seem to be favorites. That tells me that the quality of songs is even and that the struggle to make them so was successful. I appreciate knowing that many folks have listened to the CD as a whole, in a single sitting, and experienced and enjoyed the old fashioned LP format that Rose City Ramble embodies, a long play artistic project from beginning to end.
Thank you all for all your support along the way. Here are some of the statistics to backup your sound judgement and help you appreciate why I am so excited.

It's time for Blues Festival again in Portland and there is, as always, a great and diverse line up of blues styles. The national and local acts are first rate and not only will you get to shake your booty, but you will help attenuate hunger in Oregon by supporting this Oregon Food Bank fundraiser.
On Sunday I'll be playing on the top deck for the sold out Sail on Sisters cruise with my daughter Zoe on backup vocals. I am pretty excited to be part of this powerhouse cruise of fabulous woman; Duffy Bishop and friends, (Lady Kat, Fiona Boyes, Lady A, Ellen Whyte), Mia Vermillion, Acoustic Minds.
Although the cruise is sold out, you can catch my traditional folk blues set on Monday, at 12:45.
And to wet your appetite, here is a nice clip from Waterfront Blues, 2009.

This east coast blues CD is full of great finger picking on the Wepecket Island Record label. If you like my drop thumb and melodic picking style, I think you'll like this CD. Available from me or at the Wepecket web site.

Port Townsend Acoustic Blues Festival

Jay Summerour on the front porch at Fort Worden and headed back this year...
I'm proud to be teaching blues mandolin at the festival this year. The faculty is a blast to be around and play with and maybe you;ll join us for a week of acoustic blues. Here is something from the Centrum website to tempt you.
"Each year, hundreds of blues musicians descend on Fort Worden State Park, turning the historic facility in to a giant resonating chamber for acoustic blues music. The Park comes alive, and so does each musician who makes it happen.
Indeed, the cornerstone of the Port Townsend Acoustic Blues Festival is the weeklong workshop, July 31 - August 7, 2011, where participants live and play with the bearers of acoustic blues traditions.
Led by Artistic Director Corey Harris, the week is designed to make you a better musician--and does it ever--but it is so much more. Day and night, you'll hang out, jam and swap tunes with interesting, accomplished, and fun musicians from around the nation.
This generous community shares your passion and energy, and we can almost guarantee that by the end of the week you AND your playing will be heading into directions you didn't predict just a few days earlier."

Have you gotten intrigued by the idea of hosting a host concert? Here is a great site to help you get started.
