Ed and I are thrilled to host these two delightful musicians in our living room and happy to be able to offer you the pleasure of their fine playing and singing. Please join us for this intimate and highly entertaining evening.
Widely respected as one of the leading figures in American traditional music, Tom Sauber is particularly known for his long time partnerships with Oklahoma fiddler, Earl Collins and Round Peak banjo picker Eddie Lowe. As a member of Tom, Brad and Alice with Brad Leftwich and Alice Gerrard, has toured extensively through North America, Europe and Australia.
One of the few harmonica players schooled in the melodic and rhythmic intricacies of old-time music, Mark Graham plays in a powerful but lyrical blues-tinged style that recalls the finest banjo and fiddle playing. With over 35 years of harmonicizing, Mark has gained an encyclopedic knowledge of American country and blues styles that caused Kim Field, author of "Harmonicas, Harps and Heavy Breathers" to call him "a walking gold mine of harmonica lore and The Old-Time Herald to call him "one of the pre-eminent harmonica players blowing today."
There will be songs and tunes ranging the entire spectrum of old-time music from lonesome terror to mountain hilarity, Eternal Doom to Festival Love.

Terry Robb and Lauren Sheehan
Most of you know Terry Robb, one of the most accomplished guitar players in the country, and we are lucky to have him here in Portland. Terry and I got together this winter and worked up a concert which turned out to be a lot of fun for us both - so much so that we have decided to continue playing together as a duo. The flavor is mostly country blues, emphasis on country here, with some western swing, hillbilly and quirky songs tossed into our "neo-folk/blues Americana" salad. No anchovies. Even if he is Italian.

Terry rips up the fret board on the blues material as you might imagine, with me enjoying the adrenaline as I keep up on mandolin. Then, he stretches out into a quiet soulful landscape of an old Hank Williams tune on lap slide and the contrasts and range of our sets are pretty satisfying.
Check my calendar for upcoming shows, and do let me know if you would like to host a house concert for us as we get going.

August 1,2 Port Townsend Festival of Country Blues, Port Townsend

Johnnie Ward, Southern Jumbo
We had a blast making some good party music recently with Felix, on rub board, and Kevin Healy on fiddle. You know Kevin's sublime playing from my CD, Some Old Lonesome Day, and Felix's fame might be in his stint with the Kitchen Syncopators and Baby Gramps. See us at the Muddy Rudder soon.
