Outside the living room window, mustard yellow and maroon crinkles decorate my witch hazel, little fireworks celebrating that winter solstice is behind us now. The soft scent of sarcococca drifts toward the hellebore buds - little newt heads wiggling their noses up to enjoy the mild weather and bloom in the days and days of rain sure to come.
